USA / Rancho Filoso Gesha
Surely some of the rarest coffee in the world, this delicate, floral gesha is grown on the hills of Santa Paula, California by Lisa Tate Soury. The low-altitude terroir yields notes of jasmine, toasted almonds, and a tea-like body with a mildly sweet & smooth finish that's perfect as a pour-over.
Due to the extreme rarity of this coffee, only a small amount was made available to roasteries outside California - and we're one of the very few that got some! In order to share with as many of our customers as possible, this coffee will be roasted to order and packaged in 7 ounces per can (instead of the normal 9 ounces) using our 1kg-capacity electric drum roaster. Make sure to wait 2-3 weeks after roast-date for this light roast to reach its optimal flavor development.
As global temperatures rise, new locations north and south of the tropics will become viable for arabica cultivation. While coffee has been grown in Puerto Rico and Hawaii for generations, it is still very new to California, currently the only location in the continental US where it is commercially grown. In 2016, Rancho Filoso converted 1.5 acres of its 86-acre citrus and avocado farm for experiments in coffee cultivation. As the third generation of women farmers to run Rancho Filoso, Lisa Tate Soury is also Director of Operations for the California Coffee Collective, which helps to promote the region's burgeoning coffee industry.
Supply is very limited - don't miss out on this chance to taste some of the rarest coffee in the world!

Emerging Origins
On the flip side of every challenge lies an opportunity. As some traditional coffee growing regions become less suitable for Arabica cultivation due to climate change, areas further north and south of the equatorial belt are becoming potential growth zones. And the rise of high quality, specialty coffee has opened doors to countries not previously well-known for coffee production.
These emerging origins, each with their own distinct terroir, offer an opportunity to explore unique flavor profiles and experience firsthand the future of coffee.

Air Roasted to Perfection
We use 100% electric, clean air roasting for our coffees.
Air roasting works by suspending the beans in a column of hot air, allowing them to roast more evenly and consistently without picking up unwanted flavors or defects that can happen with drum roasters. Our roasters are designed to produce safe, low-temperature, clean exhaust without filters, catalyzers or afterburners.
Altogether, this means that we can roast clean-tasting coffees more consistently using less energy and with lower emissions than conventional methods.

Circular Packaging
Our coffee cans are manufactured in the USA from 100% domestically sourced steel.
Why steel? Unlike plastic and paper, it's infinitely recyclable and is recovered at a higher rate (72%) than any other food packaging material. It's also the ideal barrier for keeping oxygen, moisture and light away from the beans inside. This, plus an integrated valve, means our coffee stays fresher longer.
